The Church of San Prospero is considered the oldest in Petritoli and holds a mysterious fascination related to the symbols carved in the stone.
Originally, the main entrance was the small door on San Prospero Street: above its brick arch are 50 decorative rosettes, 25 of which have symbolic reliefs. A Star of David stands out in the center of the arch, while the other 25 rosettes, also engraved, appear to compose a coded message.
Looking at them closely, from left to right, they seem to tell a hidden story, understandable only to those who possessed the key to read them. According to tradition, this symbolic language can be traced back to the Templars, making the church a place charged with mystery and spirituality.
