The Civic Tower of Petritoli, about 50 meters high, dominates the village with its unique silhouette. Its history began in 1823, when it was built on the remains of the square tower of the ancient church of Santa Maria in Castello, demolished in the mid-15th century. The original tower featured two levels of windows and round arches, typical of medieval architecture.
The new tower was completed and opened in 1832, and it stands out for its unique architecture, consisting of five overlapping sections, each with a different geometric shape:
- Square
- Rectangular
- Octagonal
- Circular
- Spherical
Tall and soaring, the tower is not only a scenic symbol, but represents man’s journey toward the Divine, an ideal ascent that unites earth and sky.
