In the heart of the picturesque Vicolo del Forno, right in front of the historic Palazzo Fabiani, is the Antica Stamperia Fabiani, a fascinating craft workshop founded by the Fabiani family, printers in Petritoli since 1903. This precious building holds a unique heritage of rare printing machines and original tools dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries, the most important machines being:
- A cast-iron hand press with wooden cross base, made by the Amos Dell’orto company (Monza, 1841), a unique, working and complete specimen in Italy.
- A cast-iron hand press by the firm L’Magnoni e Figli (Monza, circa 1850)
- A piano-cylinder press made by Carlo Magnoni &C. ( Monza,circa 1850)
- A “Platina” or Boston from the M.Zini foundry (Milan,circa 1880)
Numerous vintage copper and wooden clichés and a large assortment of typefaces complete the collection.
Today, the print shop is a living and open place, where it is possible to take part in guided tours and educational workshops designed for schools, families and tourists. An opportunity to observe the workings of these machines with your own eyes.
