The “Chiesa di Sant’Andrea” (Church of St. Andrew), now joined to the “Convento delle Clarisse” (Convent of the Poor Clares), was originally the monastic church dedicated to St. Bonaventure. After the demolition of the old church of St. Andrew, worship was transferred here, giving the building its current name.
The exterior has a simple, linear façade, while the interior, with a single nave, exudes a simple elegance. At the end of the 18th century, architect Pietro Maggi, originally from Canton Ticino, enriched the church with fine stucco work. It is said that he also left among the decorations special symbols, not immediately visible, that make the building even more fascinating and mysterious.
