Explore the historic heart of Petritoli and its most iconic views
A short but evocative itinerary, including architecture, history, and breathtaking views
A very fascinating tour winds its way through the streets of Petritoli’s historic center, amid paved alleys, picturesque views and architecture laden with history. The route begins at the characteristic “Tre Archi” (Three Arches), an iconic entrance to the village, and continues to Porta Petrania, an ancient access road to the original settlement of the town.
The itinerary leads among some of the village’s symbolic places, such as Palazzo Mannocchi, a historic noble residence, and the Church of Sant’Andrea, one of the oldest and most significant churches in Petritoli. It continues with a visit to the former “Convento delle Clarisse” (Convent of the Poor Clares), a witness to women’s religious life in the village, and the elegant Palazzo Vitali, before arriving at the refined Teatro dell’Iride, an authentic 19th-century cultural treasure chest.
Walking through the narrow streets, you also encounter the terracotta Arch of the old village and the characteristic Vicolo del Sole (Alley of the Sun), which preserves intact the atmosphere of the past. The route culminates with a climb to the Civic Tower, from which there is a breathtaking view of Valdaso and the Sibillini Mountains, and then ends by crossing the scenic Via dei Muraglioni, finally returning to the starting point.
